VIQ Solutions Inc. is a global leader in computer-based digital audio and video capture and management. We develop software solutions that capture, digitize, and compress audio and video data, which is securely stored in a multi-tiered server system where it is easily searchable and shareable. Our innovative media processor technology allows users to remotely control audio-video capture in multiple locations from a single satellite location, allowing large-scale and complex installations to be managed efficiently by fewer resources.

VIQ also owns a reporting and transcription subsidiary, Spark & Cannon Australasia Pty. Ltd.. Through our transcription and court reporting partner, VIQ Solutions provides a complete digital recording service, capturing a high quality, multi-channel digital audio and/or video recording and creating efficient, verbatim transcript of the proceedings.

  • Sebastien Sebastien
    Sebastien Paré CEO, President

    Mr. Paré is a leading expert on digital eServices and enterprise automation for public sector agencies around the world. He has worked in North America, the Caribbean, the Middle East and West Africa.

    In Mr. Paré’s most recent position, he was President and Chief Operating Officer of an enterprise technology platform company dedicated to public sector digital services in a number of market sectors including courts, justice, law enforcement and healthcare on a worldwide basis. Previously, he held key management roles in professional and advisory services and sales and product positions in public and private sectors in North America and in the Middle East.

    Mr. Paré received a Bachelor of Science from the University of Quebec at Montreal and a Master of Science from the University of British Columbia.

  • Malcolm Malcolm
    Malcolm Macallum CTO/COO

    Malcolm Macallum, Chief Technology Officer and Chief Operating Officer, is a senior technology executive with extensive experience in business operations, software development, information technology and e-Commerce. Mr. Macallum served as Senior Vice President and CTO of a TSE listed healthcare information company specializing in healthcare management systems for Canadian, US, Indian and Australian markets. He has successfully built and managed organizations of over 200 professionals in business operations, systems development, human resources, administration and quality assurance.

    Mr. Macallum has built the infrastructure, systems and processes for two growing public companies and has driven the re-engineering of multi-national business processes and systems with corporations such as LaFarge, CTV, Glaxo and Warner-Lambert. He has also launched several entrepreneurial businesses, the most recent being a development subsidiary in Chenai, India. Mr. Macallum has extensive international experience and a proven track record in government-regulated international businesses and healthcare markets.

    George Kempff CFO

    George Kempff is a Certified Management Accountant with an established record of implementing/upgrading financial systems in fast growth companies and business expansion in the international manufacturing sector. Most recently, Mr. Kempff served as Vice President – Finance, for Stuart Energy Systems Corporation prior to and during their acquisition by Hydrogenics Corporation.

    Mr. Kempff has gained valuable corporate accounting and control experience with “best-practice” companies such as Bell Canada and Levi Strauss.

    Daryl Duda VP Sales

    Daryl Duda, VIQ’s Vice President of Sales and Business Development, is a senior executive with over 30 years of high-tech software sales, channel management and leadership experience.

    In 2002, Mr. Duda founded Dataworxs and grew the company into a leading international technology provider of secure, sophisticated digital audio dictation, document management and speech-to-text software solutions with offices in Canada, the US and Australia. In September 2015, Dataworxs merged with VIQ Solutions, proving VIQ with an enhanced digital solution portfolio and an established global footprint in the company’s targeted medical and law enforcement growth markets.

    Prior to Dataworxs, Mr. Duda was General Manager of Market Development at Sony Canada where he developed and managed successful sales programs for medical and court recording solutions with revenue growth of several million dollars per year.

  • Larry Larry
    Larry Taylor Chairman

    Larry Taylor serves as Chairman of the Board of Directors. He is an experienced Board Chair and Board Member with broad management consulting experience. Mr Taylor has held key senior executive positions with several industry leading companies including National Money Mart, Travelex Americas and Cap Gemini Ernst & Young Canada Inc. and has been successful in working with private equity firms to identify, acquire and combine companies to create superior shareholder value.

    He is a Certified Management Accountant and a Certified Management Consultant.

  • Harvey Harvey
    Harvey Gordon Director

    Harvey Gordon is an experienced executive with extensive senior management experience in private and public companies ranging in size from startups to $100M+ organizations.

    Mr. Gordon has held key senior executive positions with several industry leading firms, including Algorithmics Inc., Changepoint, Infonet Services and Magic Lantern Group, and established profitable operations throughout North America, Europe and Asia through direct sales staff, partnerships, reseller channels, joint ventures and acquisitions.

    Mike Kessel Director

    Mike Kessel is the President and CEO of Cleveland Clinic Canada and is responsible for the growth of the Canadian facility, strategic partnerships and enterprise value creation. During his tenure, the organization has implemented a unique public/private hybrid strategy that has led to the formation of formal partnerships with local Canadian healthcare ecosystem community stakeholders, such as Sick Kids, Sunnybrook, Mt. Sinai and the Heart and Stroke Foundation. He has also led partnership efforts with the Ontario Ministry of Health, where there have been several important firsts for in country and cross-border patient care in bariatric surgery and bone marrow transplants. Most importantly, patient experience and employee engagement scores have reached record highs during his tenure. His career has been fueled by a passion for healthcare and over 25 years of experience in strategy, finance, operations and entrepreneurial ventures.

    Mr. Kessel was instrumental in the development of a network of executive health and wellness programs with leading medical centers throughout the United States. He successfully secured 39 of the 42 Fortune 500 companies based in Chicago as clients. The program was ranked as one of the top programs in the country by Forbes and Fortune magazines.

    Mr. Kessel also held a finance leadership role at Cardinal Health, a Fortune 50 global medical products company that manufactures and distributes medical, surgical and laboratory products. Additionally, he was Co-founder and Chief Financial and Operations Officer for Ignition State Group, LLC, a web strategy and development firm based in Chicago.

    Mr. Kessel graduated from The Ohio State University with a Bachelor of Science in marketing and accounting. He received his CPA designation in 1995. Mr. Kessel received his MBA from Kellogg Business School at Northwestern University in Chicago in 2005 with a focus on Marketing, Finance and Strategy.

  • Joseph Joseph
    Joseph D Quarin Director

    Joseph D. Quarin was Chief Executive Officer of Progressive Waste Solutions Ltd. from January 2012 until the US$4.8 billion reverse merger announcement with Waste Connections Inc. in January 2016. During his 15+ year tenure at Progressive, he was a key member of its executive that drove the company’s success and revenue from US$100 million to US$2 billion.

    Mr. Quarin was ranked #10 on the Financial Post’s Top 100 CEO Scorecard 2016, delivering a two-year return of 78% to shareholders, and named one of Canada’s Top 40 Under 40 in 2004. Prior to joining BFI Canada, predecessor to Progressive, in 2000, Mr. Quarin developed his finance and business management skills at Edgestone Capital Partners, KPMG Corporate Finance, Deloitte and Arthur Andersen.

    Mr. Quarin’s experience includes corporate strategy and capital allocation, capital structure and financing growth, North American capital markets, regulatory reporting and disclosures, investor relations and liaising with institutional shareholders.

    Mr. Quarin holds a Master of Business Administration (Dean’s Honour List) from the Ivey Business School at the University of Western Ontario, a Bachelor of Commerce from Queen’s University, and is a Chartered Professional Accountant and Chartered Accountant. Mr. Quarin is an Advisory Board member of Spark Power Corporation.
