What are your roles/responsibilities at VIQ? 

As a Technical Product Manager, I am responsible for the vision, strategy, experience, and execution of several key solutions including Carbon, CapturePro, CapturePro Mobile, MobileMic Pro, AccessPoint, and Lexel. I spend a considerable amount of time understanding the market, current trends, customer pain points, and managing the development of these solutions. I engage with our client base and collaborate with our talented teams to maximize value to our customers. I enjoy customer conversations and knowledge sharing, as it is the best part of everything we do.   

What is your background and how did you get interested in becoming a Product Manager (PM)?  

I have a degree in Business Management, along with a 10-year journey in tech. I have worked in various product roles including localization, quality assurance (QA), analytics, project management, and others. This has made me a well-rounded technology expert, with Product Management as the perfect role to fulfill my love for software, collaboration, and problem solving.  It’s exciting to serve in the role of PM at VIQ, where there is a great sense of community and connection.  

What are your favorite tools to use? 

My favorite tool is our new mobile application – CapturePro Mobile. CapturePro Mobile allows the users to securely capture audio and video with their mobile device, route media for transcriptions, and interact with transcripts. Our society is always on-the-go and loves using mobile devices so it’s rewarding to create an app with robust features to capture and transcribe recordings   

What is your favorite feature? 

“Editing” in CapturePro Mobile is my favorite feature. It allows users to produce fast results with the ability to perform transcript editing in-app, anywhere.  I love the simplicity of the feature to get the job done.  

Why is user validation important? 

From our standpoint, user validation allows us to gather user feedback and pivot accordingly early in the development cycle. From the client standpoint, it allows them to be the first to view our innovative solutions and influence the development.  User validation is about truly understanding what will work for the industry, provides us with unique user perspective, and allows us to adapt our solutions accordingly.  Moreover, it helps us to connect with our users and create more innovative solutions.
