NetScribe® Live

Read what’s being said, as it’s being said.

Hearings, interviews, and public meetings all produce one recording with three jobs to do: capture it, let the people involved follow it while it happens, and turn it into a transcript. NetScribe Live does all three in one application, on a workstation in the room or in a browser.

Record & capture

Capture the room the way the room is set up.

NetScribe Live records single-channel audio when one microphone covers the room, or multi-channel audio when separate microphones cover each speaking position: in a courtroom, the bench, counsel, the witness, and the gallery.

Your existing audio hardware

Multi-channel capture runs through external audio hardware, including Biamp and PreSonus devices, so it works with the equipment already installed in your rooms.

A participant on the phone

When someone joins by phone, NetScribe Live captures that participant’s audio directly from the call. A witness or an interpreter on the phone lands in the same recording, and in the transcript that streams alongside it, not a second file to reconcile later.

Sessions on a conferencing platform

Sessions that run through a conferencing platform are recorded the same way: on the desktop, NetScribe Live captures the workstation’s own audio, so a remote participant lands in the same file as the room.

Several cases, one session

One recording session can hold more than one case, so you can run several back to back without starting a new session for each one. Desktop updates install quickly, so a machine in the room is not out of service for long.

Live transcription

Let everyone follow along, in more than one language.

As the words are spoken

As the session is recorded, NetScribe Live streams a transcript in real time. Anyone authorized to follow along reads it as the words are spoken, rather than waiting for a transcript afterward.

In another language, at the same time

When more than one language is spoken, NetScribe Live streams a live translation beside the transcript, so someone following in English can read what was said in another language while it is being said.

Heard as well as read

Live audio streams over HTTPS in the player, from both the recording screen and the recording list, so a participant following remotely hears the session as well as reads it.

Manage the record

Annotate the recording. Share only the part that’s needed.

Notes that travel with the audio

Notes go against the recording itself. Create them, manage them, and share them with the people who need the context, so what mattered in the room travels with the audio rather than living in someone’s memory.

The passage, not the whole session

When only part of a session needs to go somewhere, isolate that portion of the audio and export the segment on its own. Internal review and outside requests get exactly the passage they asked for, and nothing else is released.

Transcription handoff

Hand the recording to transcription without leaving the application.

Working copy

NetScribe Live’s own draft

The transcript streamed during the session is NetScribe Live’s own draft, labeled by speaker and ready as soon as the recording ends. Export it directly, with minimal formatting, when a working copy is all you need.

Finished transcript

Professional editing through NetScribe®

When you need a finished transcript, send the recording to NetScribe, VIQ’s transcription platform, from inside NetScribe Live. There is no re-upload and no format conversion. Request professional editing and the transcript comes back at 99% accuracy, ready to download in NetScribe Live beside the recording it came from.

You can also download recordings on their own, when transcription happens somewhere else.

Where NetScribe Live runs

Courts and tribunals

Built for today’s court environments. Courts, tribunals, and legal organizations capture proceedings in person and hybrid, and share the official recordings their own process produces.

Law enforcement

Agencies record interviews and statements, follow them live as they are recorded, and send the audio on for transcription without moving files between systems.

Government bodies

Public bodies record meetings and hearings, stream the transcript so attendees can follow along, and produce the written record afterward.

Security & compliance

Security that meets the public sector’s bar.

NetScribe Live is covered by VIQ’s company-wide security program. Data is encrypted at rest and in transit, and VIQ’s controls are independently audited: ISO/IEC 27001, SOC 2 Type I & II, and CJIS ACE — audited against the FBI CJIS Security Policy.

VIQ has done this work for 35+ years, to the security and chain-of-custody standards trusted in 65,000+ courtrooms.
